Breaking barriers for German businesses on the path to B Corp Certification

Challenge
Launching a high-performing website while focusing internal teams on core priorities
As part of a broader European collaboration with B Lab Benelux and B Lab Italy, B Lab Germany was preparing to launch a new website aimed at growing the B Corp community in Germany. Their wish was for a website that would help businesses take the first step towards certification with more clarity and less complexity.
The B Lab Germany team was looking for a partner to optimise the German-language copy, user journey, content structure, and communication strategy fitting the local context. With all their existing assets in English, they were aware of challenges for German businesses, both in understanding B Lab’s purpose and navigating the certification process.
Approach
We took on a hybrid role
We joined the project after the initial workshops and key decisions had been made in collaboration with the country partners and the web agency responsible for development. Reviewing the design mockups showed an opportunity to strengthen the project with our structured planning approach and clear communication, ensuring smoother collaboration moving forward.
With the German translations in hand, we conducted a thorough review, refining the content, adjusting the user journey, and reworking key messages. Once the core infrastructure was established, we focused on refining the UX, turning improvement opportunities into meaningful enhancements.
Our strategy throughout the whole project was to be fast, stay responsive, and communicate openly to keep everyone informed, always focusing on our goal to create a lasting website to empower the B Lab team.

Impact
Bilingual website providing guidance on the path to B Corp certification
B Lab Germany launched its website months ahead of other country partners. The team now has a bilingual website that clearly communicates their mission and provides guidance to companies on their B Corp Certification journey. Thanks to the taxonomy and filtering setup, users can quickly find the information they need.
Post-launch, we added smart forms and a “book a call” feature that connects users directly with the certification team. We also implemented a cookieless tracking layer and integrated Google Analytics to support performance monitoring and site evaluation.
We advised the team on refining their consultation flow and it’s been rewarding to see the website actively support community growth. We enjoyed handing over an easy to maintain website to the B Lab team. We additionally ran two onboarding sessions with them to ensure they felt confident using the new setup.
We’re proud to have earned the team’s trust and to continue our partnership. Our current focus is on workflow automation and extending the site’s capabilities to help B Lab Germany overcome bottlenecks in lead generation and streamline the certification process.
